MUNICH
We left Switzerland for Munich. We made a midday stop at Lindau, a beautiful medieval town situated on a small island in Lake Constance near the point where Switzerland, Germany, and Austria come together.
When we got to Munich, we took a brief orientation tour of the central city and had dinner at the famous Hofbrauhaus. The next morning a local guide led us on a tour of Munich, including a trip to the palace of the Bavarian kings. We were on our own for the rest of the day. We joined a tour of important WW II sites in the afternoon. In the evening, the entire group signed up for an eating and drinking tour of Munich. |
Donald told us one of the local favorites was white veal sausage, so we decided to try it. Our waiter came to check on us after we had eaten about half of our meal. A look of absolute horror came over his face and he told us that it was "customary" to remove the skin from the sausage. His look scared us so much we were sure we'd be sick, but we suffered no ill effects.
