BEAUNE
Beaune is a beautiful medieval town in the heart of the Burgundy region of France, home to some of the greatest wines in the world. We stayed at a small hotel, built right into the old city walls. We had a few hours to explore the town before eating as a group in what used to be the wine cellar of an old abbey. A wine tasting and discussion of Burgundy wines was held before dinner, which was a family-style serving of beef Burgundy. In the morning we visited the Hotel Dieu, a hospital built by a local duke in the 15th century and in use until 1984!
